ECU-SRI Security Congress

The SRI Security Congress hosts 5 security based conferences over 3 days. The 2015 Security Congress aims to draw together all areas of security professions and disciplines as part of a holistic engagement with the wider security discourse.

We are rapidly approaching a tipping point where the ever increasing expansion of cyber systems into our human existence will see a move from reliance on IT, to total dependency for our very existence. There are few, if any, parts of the economy that do not rely on a linked, stable, continuous, contiguous cyber supply chain, in which any break will manifest catastrophic failures for  society. The supply chains of energy, finance, water and food are now almost completely cyber enabled. Increasingly secondary and tertiary supply chains that feed these upper chains are also becoming enabled and dependent on cyber for their operation. Recent exposures like the HeartBleed and Shellshock of 2014, demonstrated the endemic and widespread threat that cyber vulnerability can manifest. As a result, we are now as a society endemically threatened by critical cyber vulnerabilities and increasingly moving to potential cybergeddon through critical mass and multiple dependencies that is being overlooked.
