Current Research Projects
Investigation into RFID Attacks
Ongoing research into methods of attacking RFID systems. Currently the research is focussing on 915Mhz RFID tags. Several important findings will be published over the upcoming year.
Long Range Detection of RFID Tags
This project entails the detection and possible interaction with RFID tags beyond the recognised range of normal tag communication. Several large purpose built antenna have been constructed to allow field experimentation to take place.
Tracking of RFID Tags in 3D Space
This study examines a novel low cost solution to the problem of locating passive RFID tagged items in a storage area, the Mobile Zonal Location System (MZLS). Reference tags are placed on fixed storage infrastructure at known locations to identify zones within a storage space. Tagged items placed within a zone are associated with their enclosing Reference tags in a database. The user, equipped with a mobile computer and RFID reader unit, may determine their location by reading Reference tags. The location of tagged assets may also be retrieved from the database. Both user and asset are then represented on-screen as icons in a three-dimensional Virtual Reality model of the storage area, allowing the user to navigate to the item.
